What a crazy week it's been!!!

Below is a picture of my new brother or sister! Mommy and Daddy are very excited! The baby is due April 22, 2009. I think that may be forever!! (In the black circle in the middle of the photo, the baby's head is on the right, it's tail is on the lower left. The heart is the tiny white dot in the upper middle of the blob, the arms are the two white nubs above the heart. Good luck with that explanation!) Click on any photo to enlarge...
The apple tree in our back yard fell during the 75 mph winds we had on Sun., Sept 14th (Hurricane Ike's leftovers!) The tree fell toward the house, but did not do any damage thank God! As a result of the winds, 1.3 million people in the Columbus area lost power due to downed lines. We live in an area with LOTS of mature trees, so they had LOTS to repair. So, it took a bit longer to get our power back...6 days and 4 hours to be exact! We were one of the last to restore power.
Here is the tree again, looking at the house. As you can see, it was pretty much dead anyway. Thanks Ike! You probably saved us hundreds of bucks in tree removal costs! (But cost us some $$$ in replacing all the food we had to throw away!) Truly, we were lucky. It could have been so much worse! I just can't imagine what Galveston experienced.

Here is the tree 1 more time. We were very fortunate in that it did not take down any power lines. Our neighbors were not so lucky. Their tree ripped the lines right off of their house.

A bear sleeping in the sun at the zoo. We had to make sure it was breathing, cuz it didn't look too good!

So the other part of our adventure on Sunday, Sept 14th... On our way back from Milwaukee, the Chicago/northwest Indiana area had record rain falls, leading to flooding. I80/94 was closed and towns and neighborhoods were being evacuated. That combination meant that side streets and highways were a little congested. It took us 4 hours to travel 20 miles. We were a bit terrified as we watched the water rise all around us, with absolutely nowhere to go. We actually saw cars floating. It was not an experience we EVER want to have again, to say the least! We were so thankful to be on higher ground. (Keep in mind, in the middle of this mess, our neighbor called to tell us that our tree had fallen. The day just kept getting better!)

The toy box that Daddy and Grampa Scheuer made for me! It's enormous!
My first carousel ride at the zoo.

What cute pictures of Ellie. That was also some pictures of the flooding you experienced. The new little baby is sooo tiny. Thanks for the explanation. We are now on highspeed internet. Love, Nana
