Here is the before photo of the baby's room...

And here is the after. Adam painted it a pale shade of yellow, called "Cuddle" (how appropriate!). The plan is to put wainscotting on the bottom third, too. He also added a ceiling fan. He is now a wiring expert! He had to completely install everything; there wasn't an overhead light in there or anything! The tough part was putting the light and fan on a dimmer/adjustable speed switch! He did a great job!

As promised, a photo of Carley. She comes up from the basement once in awhile now, when Brew's outside or sleeping. Here she is enjoying a beautiful day in Columbus in late November!

Here is Adam, ready to enjoy the Thanksgiving feast he prepared for us. He's an awesome cook... I am VERY lucky to have him!! Unfortunately I had to work that day, but it was still a great evening!

And here is the belly photo. Saturday night I went to put on my favorite jeans and guess what, they didn't fit!! There was no buttoning those suckers! My belly just popped overnight. (Or maybe it was Adam's Thanksgiving feast that did it?!) So, it looks like it's time for some new clothes!
(An aside to my fashion-conscious friends...No, those aren't pants that I wear outside my house...they're my pjs! :)

I'm now at 18 weeks and I've officially gained 1 pound. According to my favorite pregnancy book, the baby is about 6 inches long and 5.5 -6 oz. Little Bean is able to hear loud noises and detect bright light when it's shone at my belly. Amazing! In 2 weeks I'll have my "big" ultrasound, which will include lots of pictures for everyone to see!

Don't forget the cats!

Here's Oliver in his most common pose...such a rough life!

Pepe showing his team spirit on football Saturday!

We also have Carley, but she's very shy...especially since Brewer arrived. It's difficult to get pictures of her, unlike the other 2 hams, but we'll post some soon.

Adam at bat. He was in a men's baseball league here in Columbus. After a slow start (and constant rain-outs), he finished the season very well. His team was the League Champions!

On Thursday I had my 15 week check-up. Everything's going fine. Little Bean's heart rate was 146 bpm. I still haven't gained any weight...my goal is at least 3 lbs before I see the doc for my 20 week check-up and ultrasound on Dec. 14th. Time is really flying by!

Halloween 2006!

Adam (the mad scientist) and Brewer, with his witch hat on (for just a second!)

I was "Thing 1" and Little Bean was "Thing 2" from the Cat in the Hat.

Here is Brewer posing with us after passing out TONS of Halloween candy to the Trick-or-Treaters. (We had a blast seeing all the kids in costume!)

Here is Brewer with my brother, Glenn (the cowboy), who came to visit for the week.

13 week update

Hello! No pictures this time, just an update. I went to the OB on Tuesday for a mini check-up, and the NP checked the fetal heart tones. It took a while to find the heart beat, which was making me nervous, but she eventually found them. The heart rate was 160 bpm, going strong!! I am now over 13 weeks. I haven't noticed much of a bump yet, but my pants are fitting differently around the waist. I'm still down a few pounds compared to before I was pregnant, but that's quite all right at this point. The nausea continues, but it's definitely letting up. I'm afraid to take off my Sea Bands because they worked so well for a few days and I'm afraid that if I take them off, the nausea will knock me on my butt. I'll just play it safe and wear them for right now!
I am still in grad school in the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner program, with an HIV/Oncology focus. I met with my advisor last week and I will not graduate any later than before (still June of 2009, if I stay on the current track). I will be off the spring quarter, then my summer and fall quarter classes are online, so I won't even need to go to campus until January! I'm excited that it doesn't set me back at all, but it wouldn't have mattered. We'll see if I can stay on track!
Take care everyone and keep checking the blog every few weeks. We'll keep it updated!

Pictures in Paris

A view of the Eiffel Tower (duh!)
Sacre Coeur= Sacred Heart
Aww! A little smooch in front of Sacre Coeur
The Louvre in sepia!

Baby Scheuer

Yep, there are definitely 2 lines, Adam! (Photo taken August 23, 2006)

A picture says 1,000 words...

Now that we have finally gone home to share the exciting news with our families, we can let the rest of the world know!! We're having a baby!! Our due date is somewhere between May 3 and May 8th. (If it's truly a bull-headed Taurus, probably later! :)) The photo above shows a dotted line through the heart, with the heart beat at the bottom (it was 176 bpm). Isn't just the cutest little blob you've ever seen?? It's name right now is "Little Bean". We don't want to find out the sex; it's the biggest surprise you'll ever get, right?? (Remember, you can click on the photo to enlarge.)
And here is another one. The head is on the left, with the arrow pointing to it, with the rump on the bottom right. It's back is to us, and you can sort of see the spine. As the doctor was doing the ultrasound, the baby would just wiggle and wiggle, like it was saying "Hi Mom and Dad!" (At least we think so!) It was so funny! The doctor was even surprised at how active it was!
We are so excited!! We'll keep everyone posted!

Our trip to Paris

Well, I'm really sorry, but we've been having issues with blogspot this week trying to get our photos onto the blog. There are a few pictures below, and I'll be trying again later, but this is our trip in a nutshell!
Adam had the opportunity to go to France through work, so that meant I did, too! He spent 5 days in southern France, then we met in Paris on Thursday at our hotel. We both had adventures getting there...me from the airport and him from Sauveterre by train/metro. But we made it safe and sound!
Right away we went to the Eiffel Tower. It was a beautiful, clear day. We went to the very top and took tons of pictures. Paris is just beautiful! We then explored the area our hotel was in. It's a quiet area but centrally located to many sights, some in walking distance, but there was also a metro station right out the front door.
On Friday, we took the train to Versailles. It is an enormous complex. Definitely a place to wear good walking shoes! It is were French royalty (King Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette etc.) lived. The gardens are beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice! While visiting Marie Antoinette's estate, we met a woman from San Diego, who also happened to be the granddaughter of a former Afghan Embassador. She was in France visiting with the current Afghan Embassador to France, who is a good family friend of theirs. Up to that point, she had been escorted all over by different friends, but was wishing she could take the train back to Paris. She'd never done it before, so we helped her get to where she was going. She told us some very interesting stories of her experiences. I guess it's always good to know friends of Afghan Embassadors, especially when in other countries!
Saturday we spent the day at the Louvre. It was very overwhelming. We picked and choosed what we wanted to see...the Mona Lisa, of course, but the Club-Footed Boy was by far our favorite!! When you only have 1 day to spend there, you look at so many pieces of art and artifacts that 1 piece looks like another, like another. (It probably doesn't help that we aren't art enthusiasts and had NO IDEA what we were looking at!) But the famous pyramid was pretty cool. It doesn't quite fit with the rest of the Louvre, but what do we know?! After we'd had enough of the Louvre, we walked to the Opera House and Galleries Lafayette (a world-famous shopping mall/mecca). This area was packed with people. We didn't spend much time there, but I'm glad we saw it.
Sunday was probably my favorite day. We went to mass at Notre Dame, which was an amazing experience. We both got goose bumps walking in. It is a stunning cathedral. However, it was a little distracting because during mass, visitors are allowed to walk around and take photos. It didn't seem like the most reverent of places. It is beautiful, though. That afternoon, we went to Musee d'Orsay. We recommend that if you only have time to do 1 museum in Paris, do that one. It is free the first Sunday of every month, as many of the museums are, but be prepared to wait in line! It is much more manageable in a few hours than the Louvre. Plus, it had more "modern" art and artists that Adam and I had at least heard of! (But that's not saying much!) It has Monet, Degas, Renoir, all those famous dead guys! Plus, the musuem is in an old train station, and the architecture is incredible.
I was set on getting my hair cut while we were there, so on Monday morning, that's what I did. It was one of the best hair cut experiences I've ever had. I had it lowlighted and cut. No one there spoke any English, but they were very nice and I was able to communicate what I wanted. I love it! While I was spending a few hours being pampered, Adam was walking the city, taking tons of pictures. After I was done, we bought day passes for the metro and went from spot to spot, taking more pictures and seeing what we could in the time we had left. We went to the Arc d' Triumph, Sacre Coeur, Jim Morrison's grave site, Moulin Rouge, and Champs de Elysees.
Tuesday was our travel day. We made it to the airport fine, but then it sorta fell apart. You take a shuttle bus to your terminal from the train station, and the 1 we were waiting for had about 100 people trying to get one with all their luggage. We all crammed on it, though. The traffic was horrendous, so the bus couldn't get us even close to the departure area. The driver just pulled over, blocking 2 lanes of traffic, and told us to unload. There we all were, in the middle of a busy road. To get to the sidewalk, we all had to climb over a wrought-iron fence. Yeah, that was fun. Thinking about it now, seeing 80 year old ladies climbing over this fence, then getting all the luggage over it, it is somewhat humorous! Luckily no one got hurt! But, we made it back to the states safe and sound. It was a fantastic trip!!

Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures downloaded soon. Keep checking!

Trip to Paris!!

On the left is the back of Versailles looking up from the top of the hill, on the right is a picture looking down the hill. The white area in the background is actually a big lake/pond. Versailles is an enormous complex where French royalty lived, like King Louis XIV. It is amazing! (Wear your walking shoes!)
To the left is a picture of one of the gardens. The landscaping is immaculate. Adam really loved all the symmetry!
The Eiffel Tower at night. Beginning at 8 pm, every hour on the hour it sparkles like this for 10 minutes. It is breathtaking and a must-see while in Paris!
The Hotel de Invalides at night. Napoleon is buried on the grounds. It used to be a military hospital, and now we think it is for government use. (Our hotel was 1 block from here.)
The view of the Arc de Triumph from the Eiffel Tower. We went to the very top of the tower and were so lucky that it happened to be a perfectly clear day. As you can see, the view is incredible!

The latest...

Wow! Has it really been over a month since I last updated this?? I guess we've been busy... Since the last posting, baby Thomas was born on July 24, 2006 (which also happens to be our anniversary!) He is SO cute! Shannon and Greg are both doing well and will be great parents!! We also made it to the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, and a day-trip to Cleveland to explore. Last weekend Adam met his brother Tim in Cleveland and they went to the Wisconsin-Bowling Green game. They had a great time and Wisconsin had a great win.

My favorite part of the fair- the PIGS!! This poor mama pig was worn out!

And here is the runt, in a corner, under a heat lamp. So cute! I could've watched them all day!

Adam's birthday and our anniversary

Adam and I on our 2nd anniversary... we went to the Melting Pot for dinner and had an absolute feast! It is my new favorite place for dessert. It was pretty funny because we bought each other the same gift...sheets! (The gift for your 2nd anniversary is cotton or china.) I guess great minds really do think alike!
Kate and Brian, Adam and I on his 30th birthday in Columbus. We went to the Columbus Fish Market...yum!
This is just to show that we all tried oysters. Everyone liked them except me. They can keep their slimy oysters!! At least I tried them.

Brewer's trip to Wisconsin

Here is Brett, the great animal lover, posing with Brewer.
Brewer after an apparently rough night out on the town!!
He's such a great traveler...he sleeps most of the time. How can you not love that sweet face??
Here is Brewer begging little Ryan to play.

Finally, Brewer and his cousin Lucy get to meet. They ran each other ragged, as you can see by their tongues!!
